My opinion is that it would not go down well.

In reality, it probably depends on the size of the market. Studios do not like topics that are "too hot" to handle or will cost them sales.

Could you be more specific? I have a situation in which the Army Brass physically assaults the democratically elected leader of a well known terrorism sponsoring country when they don't get their way. The realities of this country is well known as are the machinations of its army. The elected leader is shown as a moderate. This is a real country not a fictitous one.

Will this go down well or not? Thanks for the help in advance, I just need some judgment here as I have other devices to move along this plot point, and I dont want the script to be trashed because of political considerations.

And comedy is the hardest genre to write effectively. Anytime something in one of my scripts is funny, it's probably accidental.

NEVER EVER, EVER FORGET THAT ENTERTAINMENT IS A BUSINESS. It's not about art and it never has been. This is the reason that more comedies are made. In fact, comedies generate 2.3 times the revenue than a drama does.

That's why I say, "Good scripts are those that get bought."

I am writing a feature in the terrorism/thriller genre. It has a scene where the army top brass of a certain terrorism-sponsoring country (real, not fictitious) is demonised. The characters of the army brass are fictitious but based on real roles/titles in the army. The country happens to be a haven for terrorists but I suspect the major studios have distributors there. It is a country known for its official denials and vengefulness. The film - if it is ever made -is sure to be banned there.

Question - how much mileage does Hollywood's allow for demonising standing governments (actually the army rather than the government) even though the situations are completely based on reality - especially when it distributes movies there? I am asking because I do not remember seeing this done in any movie ever.

Oh, but what a sweet scene it will be if made!
