I went back and corrected the entry I made above. This is probably what you'd actually see in a script.

Dang, again too obvious. I get the picture. In fact, I remember reading something similar in an old movie script a year or so ago. I filed it away in the cobweb filled recesses of my mind and lost it.

Oh, but of course you can make the radio a character. What's essential is whether or not anything heard over the radio in this scene is critical to the story or just "color" for the scene. If it's color:

INT. UNMARKED CAR - SAME TIME

John Loyd sits in the car, head cocked at an odd angle. The police radio CRACKLES.

POLICE DISPATCH (V.O.)
(radio, filtered)
One Adam Twelve, come in.

His shirt and jacket glistens with blood oozing from a deep gash across his neck.

You get the idea. If it's different officers calling him, write their dialogue ... OFFICER #1, OFFICER #2 ...

I've got something I haven't run into before.

In my script, the cops are hunting my character, while he hunts some people. The police have stationed detectives at the homes.

Dante has killed one of the detectives, who was sitting in his unmarked unit in front of the house. Other detectives are trying to contact him to warn him that Dante is nearby. This is what I've got so far:

INT. UNMARKED CAR - SAME TIME

John Loyd sits in the car, head cocked at an odd angle. His shirt and jacket red with blood from a deep gash across his neck.

My question: The other guys are radioing him. How do I put those calls in? I don't think I can make the police radio a character. I know it's something to do with off screen (O.S.) .
