My writing partner has a terrific meeting yesterday with Edward Asner, who has agreed to sign-on and attach to HASBEEN HOTEL, which has opened doors by itself. It also means we need to add a few scenes to the story, but it can use it anyway. I'm excited!

We're hoping for a feature. This should have high appeal to baby-boomers and their parents.

That is fantastic Don!  Go With The Flo Productions looks to be a terrific venture, and Sean makes an excellent writing partner for you.  The opening for Hasbeen Hotel is rock solid!  Is this for television or feature film?

What good news! I'm getting vicarious goose bumps. Gary Marshall would be great! He's my dream director for my stuff. He always mentions that he looks for dogs and/or kids...so the animal rescue thing could be a good 'hook'...had a thought that your character might be looney enough to drag in all sorts of crazy animals in need of help...a running gag.

It's exciting ... there's a meeting this week with Carole Cook and her husband, Tom Troupe and also a casting director/producer who has talked about taking it to Garry Marshall to direct. We'll see what happens.

Polly Holliday and Jean Stapleton have retired and turned it down.

Regarding the visual elements ... we worked very hard at creating the atmosphere. My writing partner and I love this story. When we read it, we laugh and giggle because we can see these characters. It was originally written for Mary Wicks (Sister Act) with Red Buttons as C.B., but I think  Winston and Desmond are going to be hard to cast.

I just got word that it's going to Dixie Carter and Hal Holbrook plus Marla Gibbs.

Don,

This is great!  Very excited to see what amounts out of it!  Sad that Dom passed away the other day though.  He'll be missed.

Don,

From my amateurish perspective, I believe you've done quite well at constructing the first 13 pages. Premise is clearly defined, characters are strong and the conflict is presented. I agree that it will can be as good as the quality of known actors that play the characters. Hope your dream "crew" responds accordingly. I am in awe of the amount of detail that you are able to present. There are a lot of good "visuals".

We finished the rewrite tonight of Hasbeen. We'll wait a few days and do a re-read to hunt for errors or oversights and do a little clean-up. We're under the gun to get it done as Jane Withers (Agnes), Sid Caesar (C.B.), Polly Holliday (Agnes or Polly) and Peter Graves (not sure) are waiting to read it to see if they want to attach. I'd love to have Dom DeLuise for Winston, Betty White for Polly and Ruby Dee for Bessie.

To get a little feedback, here's the first 13 pages of 104 pages ... comedies tend to be shorter.

Love the web site. I like the sounds of Hasbeen Hotel. Anything that refferences the classics is usually good in my book.

That's the one that interested me the most.  It would be great to see a real "has been" take a jab at themselves as a cast member.  Jack Klugman? Grin

That makes two of us! There's more to be done on the site, of course, but there's enough to get started. The final rewrite of HASBEEN HOTEL is almost done.
