Here's the latest ...

HASBEEN HOTEL ... major producer of movies for Hallmark Channel has been in touch with our agent. All fingers are crossed.
BORN AGAIN ... still gathering interest, but no takers so far.
MUD ALLEY MIDGETS ... renewed interest all of a sudden.
HOLYWOOD ... work continues and we're about 80% done with the first draft.

I guess we're going for the record for the most number of attached talent to a script ...

IAN AMBERCROBIE, as Desmond Pruitt the hotel Concierge, joins Adward Asner, Doris Roberts, Della Reese, Antonio Sabato Jr., and Mary Jo Catlett as the signed attached stars to HASBEEN HOTEL.

Our problem with HASBEEN is that we've been unable to get a distribution deal, plus the fact that it seems as though L.A. is at a standstill. Nobody is buying anything right now, although no one seems to be able to say WHY that is, it's just the way things are at the moment.
I suppose, from everything I'm seeing right now, that the economic downturn is still sticking it to people.  Venture capital doesn't want to take any risks, investments went down with Shearson Lehman and AIG, and nobody wants to stick their necks out (to use a more polite term for a less-polite anatomical part) and get clipped.
It seems the only people who are willing to risk anything are the ones who don't have anything to begin with...

I very seldom do private coaching, mostly because my own projects make my time limited. I do give out free advice, though ... and I've read a lot of scripts.

Our problem with HASBEEN is that we've been unable to get a distribution deal, plus the fact that it seems as though L.A. is at a standstill. No body is buying anything right now, although no one seems to be able to say WHY that is, it's just the way things are at the moment.  My belief is that the logjam will break ... it has to because broadcasters and cable channels have hours of time to fill with something and everybody can't be running old movies.

As a private coach, Don, how much do you charge?

Nice Don! How close do you think Hasbeen is to going into production? I'm sort of getting the impression it's tantalizingly close but really I realize that I may have that a little wrong.

Way to go, Don! I can't wait to see this. Is there a proposed release yet? When would they like to start shooting?

We've got a new HASBEEN HOTEL attached star, Mary Jo Catlett, Emmy-nominated comedy-drama actress whose face is literally known to millions. Mary Jo signed on to play the role of Polly Winsom, previously turned down by Betty White.

On Sunday, we expect to finish the rough draft of BORN AGAIN: Second Chance to Raise Hell ... then the real work begins!  We think we can have a polished, first draft done by the end of July.
