There's another possibility ... many writers talk about that one script they just can't seem to sell ... just keeps getting them writing assignments. It would ge okay if this was that calling card script that everyone remembers, but no one buys.

Hey Ozone,

I absolutely adore that title, grabbed my attention straight away, and with the logline Don wrote, that's half the battle won.

Whether there's one in development or not, I say go for it! They could even use yours as a sequal if need be, depending on the storyline they have at the moment.

When-ever I enter a screenplay competition I always look at the genre of past winners, as some tend to favour comedies etc. Anyway, I remember seeing on one of them (a Teleplay comp) that a past winner was a writer who wrote an episode of The Simpsons. An update on the site claimed that his script has now been optioned with FOX.
I look at many comps so it's hard to remember which one it was, but it would have been one of the major ones as they're all I look at.

Anyhooo, my point is... If you've got balls, use 'em. If it works with teleplays, then why not features?

You're going to need a shorter version ... the "one breath" version ... something like:

The Green Hornet and Kato jump into action to rid the city of ruthless heroin smugglers who murdered their close friend.

Let me clarify,

When I asked for help, expertise and insight from the script nurse forum, I wasn't referring to medical or legal advice. Please feel free to add constructive criticism to the logline.

Logline:

Driven by the murder of a close friend and the realization that his media empire is infested with ruthless heroin smugglers, Britt Reid, AKA Green Hornet, and his human weapon Kato jump into action on a heart-pounding quest to rid the city of this mob once and for all.

Thanks,

I feel this original story could be good enough to land in the right hands at the right time.
I suggest, unless you're doing it "just for exercise" and NO ONE will ever see it, that you concentrate on a character with the same sort of motivations as the Hornet, and a similar modus operandi, but not cloned from the same genome.

Copyright infringement is not something you want to be accused of... and lawsuits are messy, expensive, and have a tendency to totally absorb any fun, joy, or spontaneity from life.
Trust me on that...

Point taken.  :-\But with forum help, expertise and insight, I feel this original story could be good enough to land in the right hands at the right time. But I need a good logline. Original Film currently owns the filmrights to 'The Green Hornet'.

Thanks

I don't suppose I should mention that you don't own the rights to your screenplay.

Yes uncle Al, I'm aware of the current GH goings on.  Wink However, The Green Hornet movie has been in development heck for years and is still not made. Unlike Mr. Rogen's attempt, my action-packed, non-comedy, 123 page script (http://pc.celtx.com/project/sEBfkS) is fan-friendly. My concern is the length of the logline. Scrip to, you're right...AKA Green Hornet should be in there.

Thanks both for the input!

Sounds like a good logline... unfortunately, the Green Hornet is being made into a feature length movie with Seth Rogen as Britt Reid/The Green Hornet.

I weep with unfulfilled dreams...

I like it, but maybe make this one small change, so if folks reading don't know beforehand it's a Green Hornet movie:

Driven by the murder of a close friend and the realization that his media empire is infested with ruthless heroin smugglers, Britt Reid, AKA Green Hornet, and his human weapon Kato jump into action on a heart-pounding quest to rid the city of this mob once and for all.

Sounds really cool.  Any of the script available to read?
