Seeing movies in your local theatre or cinema made by motion picture companies is a business. It's not art, it's business. The purpose of movies is to attract people to a theatre or cinema in order to rent a seat for them to sit in. This is why shorter movies are preferred by exhibitors. A 90 minute movie means the seats can be rented 6 times in one day, whereas a 120 minute movie means 4 times. If you're in the business of renting seats, I'm sure that 6 times a day is more attractive than 4 times a day.

Most of my scripts have been 90-some pages when submitted. Producer-requested changes add about 10-15 pages.

I think all movies sound like some other movies. Remember, if you're lucky, you'll be pitching your movie idea to a businessman / accountant (in Hollywood they call them producers), so make sure an accountant can understand it.

You raise a very valid point.  Thanks, Don!

Yeah, I thought of that, but does it just sound like too many other movies?  I'd like to find a way for it to stand out, as I think it has something different, in The Blueprint for Life concept.

The short version:

A bitter ex-CIA agent is pressed back to duty to bring down an old nemesis and save the world.

A bitter ex-CIA agent is pressed back into duty to bring down an old nemesis that has resurfaced with a plot to take over the world using a horrific pseudo-scientific discovery called The Blueprint for Life.

How well does this read?
