Script registration has NOTHING to do with copyright protection OTHER THAN to prove that at the time of registration a copyrighted work existed. Don't confuse registering your screenplay with its copyright protection. Copyright protection exists at the time the work is created, assuming that you live in a Berne Convention country.

Here's the complete text of the Berne Convention Treaty and the Berne Convention Member States.

For those nutty enough to want to adapt a book into a screenplay, you'll need to know who owns the copyright so that you can beg for permission to write the adaptation. Conveniently, the Standford University Library maintains a database of such information.

Hi Ya'll,

There's a site that gives screenplay coverage, and yep, it is Free!

It is a managment site that has writers working for them who will breakdown your script and give it scores in various departments.

I tried it a little while back and thought it was crap, depending on what you're looking for. Here's the gig:

They give you scores from 1-5 in various sections, if you scrore a 4, or a 5 as an overall average, the management company makes you an offer with regards to representation. They only take a percentage off your sale if they sell the script for you. If you sell it yourself, they take nothing, which is pretty good.

In my personel experience, I recieved 2 very good evaluations, and 2 bad. The good part is... if you make spelling mistakes in your script, they point them out to you, giving the exact scene and page number, which is always a plus. I hate mistakes but there's always some that crop up somewhere.

Anyway, I ignored their comments, apart from the spelling errors, and my script is now on a production slate for 2010 with Leonis Productions, Producer Kirsty Bailey.

Like I said, it all depends what you're looking for.

The site is Abbot Management:  https://www.abbotmanagement.com/index.php

Obviously have a read and check them out for yourselves before submitting.

Best,

Dean
