@aj1981

Typical Movie = Purpose, Conflict, Conclusion

Or = Boy Meets Girl, Girl Breaks Up with Boy, Boy wins Girl Back

Speaking from personal experience, school can be a GOOD thing...
Just don't let the euphoria of commingling with others of like mind distract you from what YOU want to do.
(Been there, done that, wrote the book, directed the movie, silkscreened the T-shirt.)
One more thing... As much as you might want there to be more hours in a day, there are ONLY twenty-four.
Sleep, eat, wash, do laundry, and perform other routine maintenance chores.  It helps.

Cheers!
(And good hunting!)

Thanks, Ryan, for responding. I've been thinking about this script a lot. I kinda got direction about the genre I would like to write and that's helping me narrow down my focus.

What are your protagonists personal goals? How does the main conflict affect the protagonist and those goals? Think of your second act the events that logically lead your hero and your villian together. How does our hero get from point A to point B and what are the events that take place in between?

That's the part I'm trying to figure out. I can't figure out what I want the conflict to be. Any suggestions on trying to narrow that down?
What is the event which would be the most devastating to your protagonist?  (Especially if it could be attributed to the antagonist - directly or indirectly.)

Then use that.

Cheers!

What's the conflict? What is the protagonist trying to obtain? Who/what is he/she up against?

And in the enemy camp, only the lowest level villains should be less than competent.  (Maybe not even then - we'll discuss this in a bit.)  Every level of the hierarchy your hero encounters should be smarter, sharper, and more competent than the one before... until the top level is reached.  This person (if, indeed, it's a person) should be supernally competent, wickedly brilliant, and almost totally amoral.  ("Morals?  They don't apply to me.")

Something so bad, that when your hero defeats this villain, it proves the hero's ultimate competence.

My 2 centimes worth.

Cheers!

Ok, I have the first act pretty well mapped out in a rough outline. Now, I am hindered by the second act - the quest. How do I come up with stuff for my character to do?
