Chuck is right. Celtx is a good free program. Also, if you have Microsoft Word you can download free templates designed for screenwriting or make one yourself. I have one for Word 2010 that I keep around just in case. Much easier to bring with me than FD or MM since both those programs have restrictions on how many computers they can be installed on. The Word template is nice, but nowhere near as full-featured as the paid programs or Celtx. Literally just the bare bones. There are shortcut keys which is the real perk of any program.

But like Chuck said, as long as it's formated correctly then acceptence boils down personal prefference and luck. I use FD, but only because I've invested money in multiple copies and upgrades. Had I the chance to go back and discover Celtx or one of the other free programs I would probably never have bought Final Draft.

I don't know anything about Scriptbuddy. If I didn't have Movie Magic, I'd probably be satisfied with Celtx (free).

It formats to industry standards and seems to have all a person needs, including bells and whistles most of us will probably never use. All that said, I've only played with it and never done serious work with it.

If you're willing to pay, you can't go wrong with either Movie Magic or Final Draft. They're the big guns in screenwriting software. I've found some production companies that say they only accept scripts done in FD or MM. I don't know their rationale. If a script is correctly formatted, grammar and punctuation is correct, and you've got a good story it shouldn't matter. My opinion only, of course.
