I just finished the first draft of a really short, 15 page script that might do 20 minutes. I've never investigated a market for these short things, so am writing it off as practice - since I can't seem to motivate myself for anything longer right now.
This one is titled, "We're Waiting" and, of course dabbles in the supernatural.
The year 1914. Joey Morris, 11 yrs old, searches an old Civil War battlefield. He finds a musket ball. As he's leaving to show the treasure to his parents, he hears what sounds like voices in the wind, saying, "Tell him we're waiting."
Joey hurries from the field. As he's running down the street, an old man, Lucius Pylant, former captain in the Confederate Army, calls to him. Joey shows him the musket ball.
Later in the script, Joey hears the voices again. Eventually he tells Pylant, who seems to understand.
The end has Captain Pylant doddering down the street, heading for the battlefield. As he walks, he straightens up, his stride increases, etc and he goes into the field.
Joey and his father watch. When they get to the field, it's empty.
It's all Twilight Zone stuff. Unfortunately, that show is long gone. I plan to let it sit a few days and then start cleaning it up and editing. I'd like to think the script is much better than the above synopsis.
