Thank you both. This has been driving me bananas!  Huh
Fortunately, I just sent out a query doing just what you both suggested (it seemed reasonable to me) before I logged in to check for replies.

Ditto with Don. I've never seen anyone capitalize for loglines. I say go with your gut on this one.

Not in loglines ... they are too short to begin with.

I have done so in synopses, especially the longer form.

I have been called to task by several readers for not capitalizing person's names upon first introduction in my loglines and synopses. I thought this was only within screenplays. I have seen examples where this wasn't done. Is this some new practice or has it always been so? In my own Arthur Pen logline, it was suggested I modify it as follows (also in my synopsis):

"Bullies chase young ARTHUR PEN through a time warp where MERLIN THE MAGICIAN tells the skeptical boy he is KING ARTHUR PENDRAGON of Round Table fame. Will he learn from his adventures in the past how to handle his tormentors in the present?"

To me, it seems annoyingly distracting. I am aware one should avoid using names whenever possible, but in this case, because of the familiarity of the subjects, and in explanation of the title, I thought it necessary.

What is the proper protocol to abide by? Is there anything written in stone?
