Moments ago I got off the phone with Dr. Melissa Caudle, one of the judges of the Mini-Movie Screenwriting Contest, and wanted to share the latest information with all of you. First and foremost, she's alive!
In New Orleans, her home, office and her husband's office and warehose were severely damaged. When Katrina hit, she and her family moved inland to Shreveport, LA and later to Franklin, where they all lived snugly in a motor home. At the present time, they are all in Orange Beach, AL, hoping they will be able to save their home and offices. Many of their friends lost everything from the storm and resulting flooding.
After hurricane Katrina, I tried to contact her for weeks, with no luck, fearing the worst.
If there's a positive side to all of this, Dr. Mel finished off two screenplays she was working on. Not only that, but she's revamped the ScreenWritersRus.com website (
http://www.screenwritersrus.com) and is waiting for the scripts for the ACE Screenplay Contest to arrive from Spain, where one of her judges is on location shooting a picture.
A more dedicated and energetic lady would be hard to find and I am glad she and her family are alive and well, in spite of everything.
