To my surprise, when I looked up
Scr(i)pt Magazine's website {
http://www.scriptmag.com/} the other day, I saw the billboarded notice that Forum Publications, the publishers of said magazine, had been purchased by Final Draft.
Whether this is an evolving trend or not, it's still a bit of a shock to the system... a magazine that was ostensibly neutral in matters of what you use to write your script bought out by the "big name" in the screenwriting software industry.
Leads one to think what editorial changes are in store, doesn't it? Will all contributors need to swear allegiance to Syd Field before being published? Will ads for the competition be accepted? Will the name of the magazine mutate to
Final Draft Scr(i)pt, or some such nonsense?
Time will tell, I suppose... but never soon enough.
