Hi,
As you say Bollywood is quite good
but India is a land of many languages
one should be proficient in Hindi or regional
language and I am home only in English and though
popular all over, English is an elite language.Though
youth watches English Films it is only Hollywood Films they watch. only
some pictures like Bend in like Beckham became a hit.
I know my script has a limited audience and is an  art film so
only I am tapping this market

Hey There Al,
Yeah, that's what I've done in the past. I got my Entourage and My Name is Earl done but there really isn't anything else out there I like.
Or that I'd want to write for. Two and Half Men & The Office is sorta funny but 5 camera writing is a pain.
Padner,
The market is dictated by where you are. India, I assume.
You do know that they produce more filmed entertainment than Hollywood? That is a HUGE market.
They predict 3.3 billion from India film by 2010. That's alot of writing! My wife was in Mumbai a little while ago and she said every corner she turned had some kind of production going on and the studios are massive
I'm sure you could bust in there. Keep a close eye on what is on or coming out.

I need to "rebuild" my spec pile and was just curious as what is really good these days. TV comedy looks rather bleak at the moment but I need some work!  Or maybe I should just stick to features!  Undecided
You know, I'd write what you want to see.  Your taste may not be that out of the norm, and something could happen.
Remember, if they don't have it to read, they'll never buy it.

I have writen a script and I want to sell it.
of course I am an Indian and my chances are quite limited
The fact that you've written a script - finished it - is good.  The doubts you express about your ability to sell it are somewhat troubling, since if you think you'll fail, you will.

Keep plugging.  Don't worry about trends... every picture that sells has the potential to start a whole new trend.

I was chatting with my agent over the weekend and I asked about current sitcom specs.
She shook her head and said good luck! The current crop of sitcoms, outside of two or three, is slim. Just imagine being a producer and getting 400 versions of "The Office".  Tongue I saw her point!
