When a teenage American boy called Tommy moves to England he stumbles across a fortune-teller at a visiting fairground. She offers him a spell that will help him fit in at his new school but warns that it can only be used once and for the right purposes. When Tommy repeats the spell, his mirror reflection replaces him and acts out his day in superhuman fashion, and by the time the reflection exchanges places back with Tommy, he has got the girl, beaten up the bully and is the most popular boy in school. Things seem fantastic but due to carelessness on Tommy’s part, the spell gets in the hands of the bully who tries to repeat it with his friends with dire consequences. Suddenly the townspeople are replaced by their own mirror reflections, but they are not friendly and want to stay in the real world. Tommy discovers a common substance which has a devastating effect on the reflections but with the town in the mirror world gradually disintegrating, and the reflections in the real world destroying all the mirrors to stop them returning, it suddenly becomes a race against time to find and destroy the reflections and save the townspeople before it’s too late.
