Sounds interesting, Margue. I love hearing stories from WW2. My grandfather, who passed away the weekend before Thanksgiving, also served in WW2. When I was a kid he told me numerous stories about his days on the frontlines. I believe he said he was on or at Midway during the war.

Anyway, while I do love hearing stories form that era I've never been very good at historical writing in the strictest sense of the word. So I may have to pass on the writing/filming element for now. However, I would love to hear more about your fathers days during the war. You can email me at

Thank you for your kind words.  Truly though, I am not a writer and will never pretend to be.  The purpose of my post
is to get the idea out. If anyone out there finds it interesting, then I'd like to share it with them and they can do the writing.
My thought is that the story wouldn't necessarily have to be about my dad and his experiences but rather one of those storylines
that has been 'inspired by a true story'.  From there, someone can take it wherever they see fit.  Maybe memoirs don't make for a good end product, I don't know.  But if anyone thinks it may be worth a read, I'll be happy to share.

Hi to a world completely unknown to me!  I have read through some of your forums and find myself feeling a bit intimidated by
your expertise and knowledge.  I'm not a writer, nor will I ever claim to be - that would be a disaster and quite laughable! I stumbled on this website last week and find the contents quite interesting regardless of how unfamiliar I am with its subject matter.
My reason for searching is because I have an idea, which is actually my father's memoirs, that could be the start of a great story if someone is interested in hearing about it and running with the idea....

It covers a period of years during World War II when my father was a transport pilot, including his participation in the Berlin Airlift  and his assignments in Alaska -

If anyone is interested in hearing more, please feel free to ask.  I'll be happy to share his experiences.  Although pushing 90 years old, dad is probably one of the few pilots still alive and able to share, firsthand, these moments in time.  I encourage anyone who thinks this could make a great story (whether on paper, in film or whatever) to contact me.  Thanks to all!  Margue
