This is a great program  --- once you get it. It's worth the money, but it takes awhile to get use to it. Good online help and loaded with help.

Thanks for the welcome above and here, uncle_al.

I actually find MMS2000 a step ahead of FD7 in the word processing area. I haven't gotten into the guts of the program, since all I need it to do is format and print at this point. I'm having enough trouble writing a spec script without worrying about all the other things it, or FD for that matter, can do.

Clunky can be an asset... Not often, mind, but enough.

I, too, have both MMS2K and FD7.  I've been testdriving both, and find them roughly equivalent.

The only reason I'd give an edge to MMS is I used its "baby brother", Hollywood Screenwriter.  The interface is comfortable for me.

Welcome to the loony bin... where we, the inmates, run the asylum.

"Crazy?  I was crazy once..."

Cheers!

Kind of late to this thread, but I'm new so....

I have MM2000 and love it. In fact, I've had it for years but never bothered to install it. It's stable so far, works fine, and does all I can ask. Just to add, I also have the latest version of Final Draft that I gritted my teeth and bought before remembering I had MMS stashed away in a box. I actually prefer the older version of Movie Magic.

It's a bit clunky and not nearly as slick as the new FD. Clunky is working fine for me, though.

I've been checking out some of the other features.  I think it'll do quite nicely.

The import features are quite robust...

Cheers!

Sadly, I believe they do still say that.

The program has some excellent features.

Maybe you could even get it -----GASP----- upgraded.
Thing is, Don, that upgrading it would cost more than the whole bundle I got from eBay...
I may be cheap frugal, but it's only because I don't have much money.

I've done some importing of text files, and I'm getting to like it better... the production features (script locking, breakdown tagging, etc.) work for me when I try to "roll my own", as they used to say.

Do they still say that?

Cheers,

I just got a copy of Movie Magic Screenwriter 2000 yesterday.
(We won an auction on eBay which had several books, an obsolescent laptop, and the original disk and packaging of MMS2K.)

I'd used the demo before, but not extensively; I detest time-limited demoware.  I also detest feature-limited crippleware, but that's another story.

Since the user interface is very similar to the other program I'd used, Hollywood Screenwriter (the "little brother" to MMS), I haven't had much trouble.

We'll see how things go with it.

Cheers!
