Hi Bec:

Here's something that's worked for me.  If you can, invest in a tape recorder and verbalize your thoughts about whatever it is your working on.  Then, transcribe them in a list.  Later, set them up as an outline.  Good luck and stay focused.  Your first screenplay really is your most challenging.

All the best,

Tim

Well, there's the old reliable 3X5 card deck... Write down the scenes in your script on index cards, as a summary.  (One scene per card).  You'll see what you have, what you can combine, and what you need to flesh out...

Much like Blake Snyder's Save the Cat! "board" idea.

Cheers!

Welcome!

I was wondering if you outline your stories before you start writing scenes or not?

Hello all!

My name is Bec and I am from Australia. I have been writing since I was about 5... I'm hoping that 21 years later I have improved a bit  Wink

I have a really bad habit of starting one piece and then getting distracted half way through and starting something completey different... and then getting distracted and start something new AGAIN. It is very frustrating!

I tend to mainly write screen plays for horror/thriller genres, I would like to be able to actually finish something one day and that is why I have joined up - hoping to maybe get some motivation from other screen writers.
