I absolutely agree with uncle_al. You're title has the chance to be changed so many times it'll make your head spin. Now, granted, you might want to find something unique and catchy to call your story as that can account for (personal estimate, not scientific) 10-15% of people both professional and non-professional alike reading your story who might not have before.

Think of it like going to a music store and just browsing, you'd probably be more apt to pick up an album with a sight-catching, colorful cover than one that is just bleak. But once again, it's all about the story you tell, not the title. It's something to be taken lightly and not fretted over too much.

Now, personally, I loathe the 'generic title' more than anyone, so be creative (that's what we do, right?) and have fun with it.

Personally, if I were an executive (I'm NOT!) with hundreds of scripts rolling across my desk each week I would be physically ill at the sight of a 120 page script with a title like:

Above Suspicion
Dead Calm
Martial Law
Beyond Justice
Deadly Encounter
Sudden Death
et. all

Titles like these just don't POP! off the page in the way that would get someone interested. But good luck on your title hunt and please let us know how it goes.

How important is the name of your screenplay? Will the important people reading your script be turned off because you didnt name it good enough?
Titles are, can be, and have been changed like some people change their underwear.
The best thing you can do is make your title the best representation of your script you can.

Welcome in... any number can play!
