Might have to check out the blog when I have time. Got a new project on the horizon. Our first full length feature. We're being funded via donations (or will be once the web site is finished) and any donators will receive a one time producer credit as well as a handful of other goodies. I'll keep everyone updated as more information becomes available. I'll also post a link for the donation web site as soon as it's up and running.
Summer time = busy time! Er... At least I'd to think I can stay busy. We were supposed to start shooting a new short film in July but casting is going sour. Having trouble finding people locally that would be interested in working for free. Low-to-no budget films can be quite frustrating to make sometimes. Oh well. With any luck we'll be able to shoot in the fall. Not quite the look I was going for, but it will have to do. Hope everyone else is having a good summer!
I can't say they're wrong. Then again, I can't they are right either. It sounds like solid info to me. The most important thing for any screenwriter to have are scripts! (duh, rnbrewer) But seriously, often times the first script you sell is NOT the first one you show. You want to have a few finished scripts to your name. You'll probably hear something like, "Yeah, this is good, but what else have you got?" If you can't answer this question, then chances are you won't make it. It's good to have multiple scripts and I guess exploring other genres isn't a bad idea either. And I think that was the point they were trying to make on those web sites.
Totally understandable. I originally thought Monday's would work great, but as it turns out, Monday nights are the best nights for my wife and I to hand out and for my writing partner and I to get together as well (we alternate when we can but ultimately my wife comes first). I really want the chat thing to work. I think it's a great idea. Is it possible that every Monday is a little much. Perhaps it would be easier if we skim it down a little. Maybe every other Monday or one Monday out of the month. Schedule it before hand someplace else on the forum for everyone to see. Perhaps this way there will be less pressure to show up every Monday.

P.S. I hear ya about the snow. We've been getting at least one two day snow storm every week for the past four months. I'm getting VERY tired of snow.
Welcome! May the joys this forum brings find its way into your writing. I've been a part of this forum for a while now and have loved it ever step of the way. I've learned much and -- hopefully -- taught a little. Feel free to ask anything and we'll do our best to put you on the right path.
What you probably need to check out are Road Trip films. There are a couple of comedies out there like the aptly named "Road Trip" or "Euro Trip". If you want something a bit more dramatic, however, than you need look no further than "Lord of the Rings". It's the ultimate buddy/adventure/road trip movie. And best of all, it's about as dramatic as it gets. I feel compelled to point out that the film I'm refering to is the newer Peter Jackson versions, not the old school animated film.
Sounds like a plan. I was there this last Monday but no one showed up. It looked like there was someone else there, but she wasn't responding to my inquiries. Oh well. Always next time.
