---- SIGH ----

The memories of working on a film set. It's been too long. Dusting off resumé and nostalgically remembering the 47 TV shows, 7 movies and 3 commercials I worked in as an actor in the previous millennium.

Brings to mind ... "You see, this is my life! It always will be! Nothing else! Just us, the cameras, and those wonderful people out there in the dark! All right, Mr. DeMille, I'm ready for my close-up."

Heavy Mental, the feature from Silver Bullet Pictures, is scheduled to come out this upcoming spring, according to its director, Mike Hartman.  There has also been an invitation to screen the film at Cinema Wasteland next May, in Strongsville, Ohio (just outside of Cleveland).
Mike is very excited, as are we all.

Side note:  A scored and edited (by me) behind-the-scenes trailer featuring how a "car hit" gag {stunt bit} was done is on my website, http://www.alexanderfilmworks.com/screen1.html

Enjoy!

Well, That's A Wrap!

The final two days of shooting went off, if not flawlessly, then at least well enough.  Anyway, nothing that can't be fixed in post.
No more on-camera bits for me, but I did end up shooting "camera 3" footage of the pyro for the final demise of the villain.
Mike, the director, liked it quite a bit.

Now, it's time to concentrate on new projects...

Starting soon?  Oh, that seems so long ago...

The final FINAL weekend shoot (which was supposed to be back in August) will be this coming weekend.

After that, it's FX work, editing, scoring... Probably some prayer, too; one never knows...

According to Mike, our producer/director/writer, release should be near the end of October.  I'll keep you posted.

If I know, you'll know.

Thanks, padnar, but 'twas not I who directed.  (I was a grip, gaffer, production assistant, and sometime extra.)

Hollywood seems to be looking for either a "tentpole" movie (Indiana Jones, Bond, a comic book superhero film), or something that takes an existing genre and gives it a "twist".

Of course, to quote the ever-popular, highly revered William Goldman, NOBODY KNOWS ANYTHING.

Maybe.

Greetings again!

Well, principal photography is finished, except for the scenes with the "name" actress, Monique Dupree, billed as "The World's First Black Scream Queen", whose bits will be shot on the 28th and 29th of this month.

Unfortunately, I won't be here in Detroit; I'll be in Columbus, Ohio, manning (personing?) a vendor's table at a science fiction convention.

I will be displaying things to promote the movie; if you're in Columbus that weekend, stop by ConText (the convention's name),buy a membership (3 days, Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon, 24 hour action, free beer <for those of age> at the hospitality suite, panels, costumes, and lots o'fun), and see me there!

I'll be the one frantically making buttons to keep up with the demand <I hope>.

All too true...

Of all the creative media, it seems that ours is the one that cannot be done (in a practical sense) by one's self.
(Let's set animation to the side for the nonce, shall we?)

It's what you know AND who you know.

Movies cannot be made without networking, I'm told.

This is the final "big push" weekend...

The "big name", who is the Evil Mrs. Delicious, the story's villain, got pregnant just after she got the part... The director was going to shoot around her pregnancy here, but she's started dilating, so we've put her part off until September or October.

The next few days' location, the I-Rock Nightclub, is very cooperative, and we should have a large group of extras for our "maximum effort" shoot on Sunday the 19th.

It's been hairy, sometimes, but fun nonetheless.  Making some connections.

That's what it's about, isn't it?

Genties and Ladlemen of the audio radiance...

We have completed Day 3.

Today was mostly exterior shooting, to set up the first scene in the film, where an "innocent" heavy metal rocker is callously murdered by two henchwenches  of the Prime Villainess, Mrs. Delicious.

There was some fun had by most.

More next week...

Oh, I forgot to mention...

One of the actors said, at this past Saturday's shoot, that the script was... let's see, want to get the quote exactly right... "f*****g genius!"

Mmmph.

I've read it... it might rival Plan Nine from Outer Space in complexity and subtext.

Plus, the writer/director/cameraman has no idea of proper screenplay format.

But he's getting the damnable mess shot.

Aargh.

Nope.  They're shooting digital (Panasonic DVX-100B), and I assume (I was never told) that they're transferring at home.

This is strictly a bargain-basement no-budget deal... as I understand it, they're only paying one actress, a porn star who's now saying she's going "legit" (no nudity).

I ended up being drafted as an extra for a scene of a robbery in a "porn shop"; even had one line!

Wotta hoot!

We're filming one day a week (Saturday) through until August, when the porn star "paid talent" comes in.  Then it'll be Saturday and Sunday.  Gotta get their money's worth fast, since she won't get naked...

More as it happens!
